Thanks for visiting KetoCouple!

KetoCouple offers tips, recipes, and a podcast by Justin and Shannon. We are a married couple who made significant changes in our lives by adopting a ketogenic lifestyle that has resulted in a combined weight loss of over 150lbs. In addition to losing weight, we’ve changed our lives in terms of activity and health.

How did we start?

“I had just seen a picture of myself taken while on vacation and was utterly disgusted at the excessive weight I had gained.”
Our friend Scott introduced us to the diet in the summer of 2014, and coincidentally it was right around the time that I was topping the scale at 310lbs. I had just seen a picture of myself taken while on vacation and was utterly disgusted at the excessive weight I had gained. I embarked on the keto journey in July of 2014, and while Shannon was not originally onboard for legitimate reasons, mainly due to my whacky failed diet routines I had suggested in the past, after seeing my results within a month she decided to give it a shot. Neither of us have looked back since. I know I’m no super model, albeit Shannon is quickly becoming one, but despite being far from perfectly fit we’ve realized many amazing benefits to our new lifestyle. The purpose of this site is to share our knowledge as a “thanks” or a pay-it-forward for all the resources we’ve used throughout our journey, and continue to use today! I’ll also add that I’m not one that easily overcomes huge obstacles. In other words, I’ve tried many methods of losing weight over the years and always failed or seen short term results. My only saving grace is my persistence. Shannon on the other hand does a great job at sticking with things once she gets started. She stuck with a Weight Watchers plan for years despite lackluster results.

Achieving Goals

I guess what I’m really trying to say is that if I’ve accomplished this relatively long weight-loss goal, then anyone can do it! There are many people who have lost more weight and have lost it faster. We aren’t perfect dieters, but we’ve lost significant weight and have kept it off for years which says something. A huge factor in our success has been the fact we do it together. It was exponentially more difficult for both of us at the start when I would be eating a lettuce wrapped burger and Shannon would be eating a small bowl of pasta. I always wanted her pasta and she wanted my burger. One mantra we repeat is the couple the diets together, succeeds together. We’ve both been excellent motivation for each other and having being onboard together has made the journey far easier.

Working as a Couple

KetoCouple is about couples working together to achieve mutual goals! Maybe it’s only losing 10 pounds, maybe it’s lowering cholesterol or fighting sleep apnea, maybe it’s fighting against a genetic disposition to diabetes. No matter what the situation is, by working together with your spouse you have a greater power to achieve amazing results! We want to welcome couples around the world to join us in the journey and hope you find our experiences helpful in planning and achieving your own goals.
